Ghanaian singer Stonebwoy traces root to Nigerian town

Ghanaian singer Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, has revealed that he has Nigerian heritage.

Stonebwoy, who is from the Ewe tribe of Ghana, claimed that his ancestors were from the ancient Oyo Kingdom in Nigeria.

He further claimed his tribe, Ewe, were the original settlers of Ilesha in Osun State.

The dancehall star spoke in a recent chat with popular influencer, Ola of Lagos.

In Pidgin, Stonebwoy said, “Me sef nah Naija, no lies. Me nah Ewe from Oyo Kingdom, my tribe migrated from Nigeria to Ghana here, na we get Ilesha. Shout-out to my people in the southern part of Nigeria. Check Ewe, we root straight to Yoruba.”

Stonebwoy is a known reggae and dancehall artist. He is currently the founder and CEO of Burniton Music Group. He was born on March 5th, 1988, in Ashaiman.

Back in school, he recognized his passion as a creative writer and an actor, which led him to join the drama club. Out of his love for writing, he was able to write rhythmic words and hymns, which turned out to be great songs. He started competing with rappers and ended up being the best.

Motivated by his family, he joined the popular rap competition known as Kasahare Level on Adom FM and won the rap battle. This provoked Samini and his desire to join Etsa in SAMINI MUSIC record label.

Stonebwoy kept on pursuing his love for music, he got into doing pop songs, reggae, and also dancehall. Apart from being just a normal musician, he recognized ways to help those who love dancing and decided to build a dance group.
