Nigerian Dancehall sensation Michael Adebayo Olayinka, popularly known as Ruger, has revealed that he “slacked” in 2023 due to the “wrong people” around him.
He explained that the energy of the “wrong people” around him affected him so much to a point where he stopped feeling like himself.
He said he has left the “wrong people” around him behind in 2023, stressing that he would be “mad, dangerous, selfish and loving man” in 2024.
Ruger wrote via his Instastory: “2023, I slacked. I had the wrong people around me and I let them affect my energy. It got to a point that I didn’t feel like ruger anymore. Anyways, I’ve left each and everyone of them in 2023. In 2024, I am a mad, dangerous, selfish and loving man.”
In September 2022, Ruger surprised his fans by announcing on his Instagram story that he had committed his life to Christ.
This revelation delighted his followers, as it confirmed the Dancehall sensation’s status as a born-again Christian. His past actions, such as cleaning the church, serve as a testament to his unwavering Christian faith.
In a previous conversation with Apple Music, Ruger also revealed that he maintains a spiritual connection through prayer and introspection. The opening track of his debut album, “Tour,” offers further insights into his spirituality.
While fans may find it challenging to reconcile Ruger’s music and sensual performances with his newfound born-again lifestyle, the versatile artist appears to have successfully struck a harmonious balance between his faith and artistic expression.
On 16 November 2022, Ruger returns with a new chest-thumping tune capsule, consisting of two songs titled ‘Red Flags’ & Asiwaju, which upon release trended on every social media platforms.
Asiwaju peaked at number 1 on Nigeria’s Apple Music Top Songs chart and spent a record-breaking one month in the history of the chart.
Ruger has also swept some of the major awards, including the Best New act in Africa at the 2022 prestigious Afrima awards.
