45,000 applicants apply for 2,000 Ogun teaching jobs

The Ogun State Government has said 45,000 people applied for 2,000 teaching jobs in the State under the OGUNTEACH Scheme.

The application form was filled out online after the state government advertised for 2,000 teaching vacancies.

The Commissioner for Education, Prof Abayomi Arigbabu disclosed this while speaking at a stakeholder’s meeting held with headteachers of 1,654 public primary schools and 513 public secondary school Principals in the state held at Lisabi Grammar School, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Arigbabu, while speaking assured the head teachers and principals of relief as the state would be employing 2,000 internship teachers to complement the efforts of teachers.

Arigbabu also hinted that the state government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun would be awarding 10,000 scholarships to students from primary to tertiary institutions in the state.

He explained further that the state government would hold a summit for headteachers, principals and teachers where it would launch a Trust Fund for annual allocation for schools in the state where schools would repair their damaged properties themselves without having to wait on the government.

Arigbabu admonished head teachers and principals to abduct the Post Examination Entertainment Programme (PEEP).

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Retired Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Olusola Subaru Urged all school owners to collaborate with security agencies to keep the schools safe and conducive for teaching and learning.
