The Rivers Police Command has confirmed the release of three persons who were kidnapped along Port Harcourt International Airport Aluu-Igwuruta road on Tuesday evening January 2.
Spokesperson for Rivers Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko in a statement on Friday said the kidnapped persons were released as a result of a massive deployment of security operatives who went after their kidnappers.
She added that the victims have been reunited with their families.
SP Iringe-Koko said the Commissioner of Police Rivers State Command, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu met with Area Commanders, DPOs and tactical team Commanders within the area and instructed them to ensure that those abducted regained their freedom.
But it could be independently confirmed if the victims paid ransom before their release and whether there are attempts to hunt down the kidnappers who seem to have turned the bushes in that axis to their haven for kidnapping.
There were also incidents of kidnappings along the Igwuruta- International Airport road at various times last year.
