Rampaging armed bandits embarked on a shooting spree at the Kukar Babangida community of Jibia local government area of Katsina State early Thursday morning leaving the village head, Magaji Zauren Katsina, Alhaji Haruna Ubale, two of his sons, and six other people dead.

The armed bandits also burnt five vehicles before they left the village, Katsina Police spokesman, ASP Abubakar Aliyu said.

He said in an interview that the bandits who were armed to the teeth with AK47 rifles stormed the village at about 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.

“Suspected bandits attacked Kukar Babangida village on Thursday shooting sporadically from AK47 rifles. They killed nine people in the process.

“They also burnt five vehicles.

“Police operatives were swiftly deployed in the area and they have since restored normalcy,’’ Aliyu said.

He assured that the assailants would be arrested soon.
