Pressure can be a noun or a verb. It depends on how it is being used. In another thought process, it can be a form of pain, want or desire. These days, a lot of mental health issues can be ascribed to pressure.

Pressure from society, from the government, school, family and many more. For anyone who doesn’t understand the concept of self preservation, pressure can get to them, they might start misbehaving or have a mental breakdown.

Constantly, musicians all over the world craft songs, urging listeners to take life simple, for instance in 2007, an artiste like J Martins released “Cool Temper,” which harps on the need to take life slowly, while life challenges and problems are unending.

Off his Grammy awards winning album, Twice As Tall (2020), Burna Boy had a song that shared the same theme. He titled it “No Fit Vex.” All in all, the need to wear the endurance cap can’t be undermined.

“Pressure,” by Angela Utsu featuring Warship was released on 5th of January 2024 with Angela Utsu writing and composing the song.

Both of them are young stars who are based in the northern part of the country yet they seem to understand the current problem. The mid tempo range of the song seems to allow the message to seep in as. Don’t put me under pressure to remain the constant refrain of the song.

In the opening verse, Warship harkens back to what his mother told him about life. The place of timing in a man’s quest for success. On the hook, he seems to be cautioning a girl not to pressure him, he promises to ease the tension around him. The following lines tethers towards the words his mother told him.

The bouncy feel of this song makes it more pleasing to hear, coupled with the free flowing delivery of Warship. Listening to it, you feel the cadence and the maturity he exhibits. A craft like this doesn’t come easy, it must have taken him years of practice. The production of this track makes it more cool to listen to.

In a world where pressure is already the order of the day, Angela Utsu and Warship brings the listener’s touch of hope, binger of happiness. This song wouldn’t have come at the right time like this. With December less than a few weeks away, it is time to tell everyone to reduce the pressure, focus on life and make better use of their time. Kudos to Warship and Angela Utsu.
