The  appellate court had upheld  the verdict of the election petitions  tribunal which invalidated the election of  Governor Abba Yusuf. Like the tribunal, the Appeal Court  declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Nasiru Gawuna, as  authentic winner of the election.

The Supreme Court  will on  Friday, January 12, give judgement in an appeal filed by the Kano State governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf  to challenge the upturning of his election by the Court of Appeal.

The apex court disclosed this  in a notice to all the parties in the suit on Wednesday.

The notice directed  that each party in the suit should only have a maximum of two lawyers present in court.

The  appellate court had upheld  the verdict of the election petitions  tribunal which invalidated the election of  Governor Abba Yusuf. Like the tribunal, the Appeal Court  declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Dr Nasiru Gawuna, as  authentic winner of the election.

The Supreme Court judgement will bring to an end the legal battles over the Kano governorship election.
