Bala Mohammed is authentic governor of Bauchi, Supreme Court affirms

The Supreme Court has affirmed  Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, as the authentic winner of the 2023 governorship election in the state.

The apex court  held that the appeal of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Sadique Abubakar, lacked merit.

Abubakar  who had  earlier lost his case at the Election Petitions Tribunal and the Appeal Court, submitted six issues for the Supreme Court to consider. He had through his legal team argued that there was massive non-compliance with the Electoral Act  in the conduct of the election.

But reading the lead judgment on Friday, Justice Ibrahim Saulawa resolved all six issues against the appellant and upheld the decision of the appellate court.
