Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma was on Monday sworn in for a second term of four years in a colourful ceremony in Owerri, the state’s capital.
The swearing ceremony was attended by President Bola Tinubu; former president, Olusegun Obasanjo; Senate President Godswill Akpabio; the Speaker of the House of Representative Tajudeen Abbas, All Progressives Congress chieftains, and supporters.
Uzodimma was sworn in around 3:24pm after his deputy, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru had been inaugurated.
The governor, in his inaugural speech vowed to exceed his performance in the first term, while thanking the people of the state for their support.
He thanked Tinubu for attending the swearing in ceremony and his support for Imo State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had in November 2023 declared Uzodimma winner of the Imo governorship election.
Uzodimma polled 540,308 votes to emerge winner of the election, while Anyanwu of the PDP scored 71,503 votes to come second while Achonu of the LP got 64,081 to come third.
