Trump wins Iowa caucuses

Former U.S. President, Donald Trump recorded a landslide victory in the Iowa caucuses in the 2024 Republican presidential primary last night.

He says it was a ‘very special night’ after he polled 51% of the Iowa caucuses votes ahead of Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley.

The former president polled 56,210 votes to run away with a landslide victory far ahead of DeSantis, who scored 23,400 votes and Haley, who garnered 21,076 votes

Others are: Vivek Ramaswamy, 8,447 votes; Asa Hutchinson, 191 votes and Chris Christie, 35 votes.

Trump has shown he is a clear frontrunner for the Republic presidential nomination with his massive victory.

Iowa is the first of the state-by-state contests where Republican voters pick their White House candidate. Next up is New Hampshire and the candidates are heading there today ahead of the primary next Tuesday.

Trump urged urged Americans to come together to “straighten out the world,” thanking the people of Iowa for supporting him.

“I really think this is time now for everybody, our country, to come together. We want to come together, whether it is Republican or Democrat or liberal or conservative,” he said.

Trump congratulated his opponents, saying he thought DeSantis and Haley “both did very well.” He also praised Vivek Ramaswamy for doing a “hell of a job.”

“They are very smart, very smart people, very capable people,” Trump said of his opponents, according to CNN.
