This new achievement is part of Davido’s “Timeless Tour,” which kicked off in 2023 following the release of his record-breaking fourth album, aptly titled “Timeless.” The tour has already seen him wow audiences across the globe, showcasing his electrifying stage presence and genre-bending sound.
In 2019, Davido became the first Nigerian solo artist to sell out the 20,000-capacity O2 Arena to further solidifying his status as a pioneer and legend of the Afrobeats movement.
But Davido’s ambitions extend beyond sold-out arenas. January 2024 also holds the potential for Grammy glory, with the artist nominated for three prestigious awards: Best African Song Performance (“Unavailable”), Best Global Song Performance (“Feel”), and Best Global Album (“Timeless”). If victorious, these accolades would mark a monumental moment for Afrobeats and propel Davido even further into the international spotlight.
Since the album’s launch, ‘Timeless’ has continued to rake in millions of streams across global music platforms.
In April, the project secured the 37th spot on the Billboard 200 chart. It secured the 39th spot on Billboard’s prestigious “Top 50 Best Albums of 2023″ list in December.
The body of work also set its first-day streaming record for an African album on Apple Music in the same month.
Davido recently headlined the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, where he performed at his Are We Africans Yet (A.W.A.Y) festival alongside other stars, including Adekunle Gold, Focalistic, Mayorkun, and Lojay.
Davido’s career officially took off in 2011 with the release of ‘Dami Duro’, his debut single.
With strings of awards and honourary mentions, the singer has established himself as one of the leading names in the African music industry.
