The Black Stars of Ghana and the Pharaoh of Egypt played out a 2-2 draw in an AFCON thriller on Thursday in their second match in Group B.

Ghana needed the victory most as they lost their first match to Cape Verde, while Egypt played to a draw in their first match.

Mohammed Kudus opened the scoring for Ghana three minutes into first-half added time. He tried his luck from the edge of the box and scored with an accurate shot inside the left post, with Salis Abdul Samed providing an assist for the goal.

Egypt equalised midway into the second half. A catastrophic error from the opponent gifted a chance to Omar Marmoush, who rolled the ball into the back of the net from close range to make it 1-1.

Two minutes later, Ghana were in front again. Denis Odoi passed the ball to Mohammed Kudus who got his brace after firing in a shot from the edge of the box which was deflected.

In the 74th minute, Egypt equalised again. A precise cutback on the goal line from Trezeguet found Mostafa Mohamed right in front of goal, and he easily buried the ball low into the middle of the goal to make it 2-2.

Six minutes into added time, Emam Ashour steadied himself and bent a shot from the edge of the box towards the bottom right corner, but Richard Ofori had it covered and made a comfortable save.
