Abuja resident fakes kidnap to defraud family

A resident of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Nnamdi Agu, is found to have faked his kidnap in a futile attempt to defraud his family.
The FCT Police Command revealed this on Saturday while debunking a media report alleging a kidnap incident at River Park Estate earlier on Saturday.
The FCT PPRO, Josephine Adeh, in a brief press release, said the command was “aware of the news making rounds about an alleged kidnapping incident at River Park Estate in the early hours of today and wishes to state that contrary to reports, nobody was kidnapped in River Park Estate.
“One Nnandi Agu ‘m’ of Games Village only faked his own kidnap in an attempt to defraud his brother who lives within the said Estate.
“The suspect is currently in police custody undergoing interrogation.”
She assured that while the investigation continued, any further development would be communicated to the public.
