Group visits Betty Akeredolu, victims of Ibadan explosion

Members of the Coalition of Pro-Democracy Groups for A Better Nigeria on Thursday paid condolence visits to the widow of the former governor of Ondo State, Mrs Betty Akeredolu and the victims of the Bodija, Ibadan explosion where many died and several properties were destroyed.

Among the visitors were Aịhaji Tanko Yakassai, a founding father of the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF); Comrade Awa Bamiji, National Coordinator of the Coalition For A Better Nigeria and a female activist from Southeast, Comrade Michelle Somto Ador.

The group which visited the scene of the incident and the surviving victims in the hospital frowned at the unlawful action of the illegal Miner on Dejo Oyelese Street of the old Bodija Housing Estate, who has been fingered as the culprit.

The explosion which occurred on Tuesday 16 January killed about five persons with over 80 others injured.

Over 50 Houses were also affected with hundreds already displaced.

Among the houses affected and visited by the group were that of the late Chief Bola Ige; Former Deputy Governor of Oyo, Chief Iyiola Oladokun; Chief Niyi Akintola, SAN; Mr Kunle Famoriyo (Afenifere Renewal Publicity Secretary), and Prof Olurin (Ophthalmologist)

Also visited were the Yoruba Academy Building and several Others.

The Civil Society team, at Akeredolu’s house in Idi-Isin Area of Jericho, Ibadan promised to participate fully in the burial Programme of the late Arakunrin slated for February.
