Cults clash claim 3 lives

Cult-related killings have continued in Edo with the the killing of three people on Sunday night in Benin City, the State capital.

The unabated cult clash in Benin, the state capital, said to be between members of the the Black Axe and Eiye confraternities, claimed over 30 lives during the yuletide, including a Benin-based popular broadcaster and some vigilante heads.

Two of the latest victims were identified simply as Denco and Ariba.

Sources had it that Denco was killed at a bar located at Igun junction, between Igbesanmwan and Oza streets, off Sokponba Road in Benin, while Ariba who reportedly left his door wide open after being drunk, was killed inside his room.

It was further gathered that the killing of the two victims snowballed to the killing of the third victim at 2nd East Circular area same Sunday night.

It would be recalled that a middle aged man who is yet to be identified, was shot dead inside his car along Upper Siluko Road, by Textile Mill junction, by suspected cultists, in an alleged reprisal over the death of their members during last December killings.

The victim was driving along the road when his assailants pumped bullets through his car side window, killing him on the spot.

When contacted on phone, the State Police Police Command spokesman, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, said he was yet to be briefed on the incidents.
