The sacked Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Kunle Oluomo,  has declared his impeachment unconstitutional, null and void.

Oluomo  who represents Ifo State Constituency 1 was impeached on Tuesday by 18 out of 26  lawmakers who accused him of gross misconduct.  Oludaisi Elemide  was elected to replace him.

Speaking publicly for the first time over the issue, Oluomo  on Friday night while addressing reporters, vowed to contest the impeachment in court.

Oluomo who  was first elected speaker in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, was impeached by the 18 lawmakers as they accused him of
financial misappropriation . Specifically, they accused him of  embezzlement of quarters renovation fund, non-disclosure of House of Assembly finances, embezzlement of monthly seminar/training fund, embezzlement of philanthropic gesture extended to the House as well as spending house funds on personal travels without the consent and approval of the House.

They also said he was inciting lawmakers  against one another, forcing his opinion on them and causing conflict between the legislative and executive arms of government.
