Davido shuts down O2 Arena for the third time

Award-winning Afrobeats singer David ‘Davido’ Adeleke has once again thrilled fans with an unforgettable show at his monumental ‘Timeless’ concert at the iconic O2 Arena in London.

The sold-out show at the centre of The O2 entertainment complex on the Greenwich Peninsula in southeast London, United Kingdom is part of Davido’s “Timeless Tour,” which kicked off in 2023 following the release of his record-breaking fourth album, aptly titled “Timeless.”

The tour has already seen him wow audiences across the globe, showcasing his electrifying stage presence and genre-bending sound, thrilling fans with a collection of his hit singles while also being joined on the stage by different artists.

Davido’s latest O2 show is the third time he has sold out the 20,000-capacity Arena after becoming the first Nigerian solo artist to sell out the Arena in 2019 before returning for another sold-out show in 2022.

At the ‘Timeless Concert’ at the O2, Davido performed hit songs from his catalogue to the delight of fans who sang along.

The concert also had guest appearances as Davido was joined on stage by DMW signee Logos Olori to perform ‘Picasso’ off his ‘Timeless’ album.

He also brought out Mayorkun with whom he performed their hit single ‘The Best’. It was a euphoric moment when he brought out Kizz Daniel for a performance of their recent collaboration ‘Twe Twe’.

Grammy Award winner and legend Angelique Kidjo also joined Davido on stage to perform their collaborative song, ‘Na Money’, from the Timeless album

Davido sold out show at the O2 Arena

Davido’s O2 concert comes a week ahead of the 2024 Grammy Awards where he is competing in three categories for the chance to win his first Grammys.

He is nominated for three prestigious awards: Best African Song Performance (“Unavailable”), Best Global Song Performance (“Feel”), and Best Global Album (“Timeless”). 

Since the album’s launch, ‘Timeless’ has continued to rake in millions of streams across global music platforms.

In April, the project secured the 37th spot on the Billboard 200 chart. It secured the 39th spot on Billboard’s prestigious “Top 50 Best Albums of 2023″ list in December.

The body of work also set its first-day streaming record for an African album on Apple Music in the same month.

Davido recently headlined the State Farm Arena in Atlanta, where he performed at his Are We Africans Yet (A.W.A.Y) festival alongside other stars, including Adekunle Gold, Focalistic, Mayorkun, and Lojay.

Davido’s career officially took off in 2011 with the release of ‘Dami Duro’, his debut single.

With strings of awards and honourary mentions, the singer has established himself as one of the leading names in the African music industry.
