Delta House of Assembly

Emeka Nwaobi, the Majority Leader of the Delta House of Assembly, has asked journalists to always double-check their facts before publication.

Nwaobi, also the Chairman, House Committee on Information, said this in a meeting with the Assembly correspondents on Tuesday in Asaba.

‘I want to admonish you as media professionals to always balance your reporting.

“Do not be in a hurry to report what you have not properly confirmed.

“I like a situation where every information that you are opportune to air is properly processed so that you do not have to pull down what you have already aired,” he said.

Nwaobi also called for collaboration between the House and the media in driving the legislative vision, mission and agenda of the eight Assembly.

“My appeal is that we want to take the Delta House of Assembly to another level.

“And I want to see I’m able to bring in one or two new things that will help to propel the House of Assembly and take it to a higher height.

“I intend that for example, any bill passed by the House, I will address the press.

“I will let the people know the reason we passed the bill and also let them know what the bill seeks to achieve and its benefits to the people of the state,” he said.
