A leading Nigerian evangelical church, the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministry, MFM has said it will no longer close its eyes to false stories or publication intended to tarnish its image by any individual or group.

Mr. Davidson Adejuwon, the Chief Legal Adviser Worldwide of MFM said this while reacting to a judgment by the United States Court against a Nigerian blogger, Funke Asekun as reported by The Nation

The U.S. Court had fined the blogger $50,000 as damages for defaming the General Overseer of MFM, Dr. Daniel Olukoya.

MFM had gone to court to complain that Asekun was spreading erroneous and fallacious statements on social media against it and its General Overseer

It added that the blogger was tarnishing the image and reputation of Olukoya and that of his ministry.

In the suit filed by three of its US-based pastors MFM accused Asekun who recently relocated to America of making a defamatory statement about the General Overseer of the church in a video posted to her YouTube channel on November 28, 2023,

The U.S. Court presided over by Theresa Adams returned a unified verdict in favour of MFM USA and its three pastors with the $50,000 fine imposed on the blogger.

Adejuwon said the judgment was a warning that the public and the media must get their information right before publishing any information against MFM.

“Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries is not just any church. It is an Apostolic Revival Church of Christ with a great end-time mandate divinely committed into the hand of a prepared prophet and servant of God, Dr. D. K. Olukoya, the General Overseer of the Ministry worldwide,” he said.

“There is no way you deliberately and devilishly collide with such and not be grounded.

“I implore the public and the media to do proper checks before publishing stories or sharing lies and falsehoods against the church…We will not fold our arms anymore on such unacceptable trends in our society.”

However, the blogger had denied that the court awarded $50,000 fine against her.
