Popular Lagos Church, Household of David located at Adeniji Jones in Ikeja was razed by fire on Wednesday few hours to its annual conference.

The multi-million auditorium of the church housing thousands of worshippers was completely burnt leaving nothing to salvage.

According to the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Services, the fire emanated from the ceiling of the church and spread into the auditorium.

The Mercy Conference of the church was slated to hold from January 31, 2024 through February 4, 2024 with many Pentecostal preachers like Joshua Selman, Isaac Oyedepo, Godman Akinlabi, and Yemi Davids billed to minister during the meeting.

Also, famous singers like Nathaniel Bassey, Dunsin Oyekan, Victoria Orenze and Moses Bliss wee also supposed to minister at the conference.

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said the fire broke out at the Household of David Church on Surulere Industrial Road, off Adeniyi Jones in Ikeja, Lagos, around 00:11 hours.

“Fortunately, responders successfully extinguished the fire, which originated at the rear end of the church. It went unnoticed by church workers but was brought to their attention by passersby.

“Thankfully, no injuries or casualties were reported. The church, leased and insured, had organized a 5-day crusade starting this evening and ending on February 4, 2024.

“Due to the expected congregant turnout, church workers underwent training by the Fire Service. Responding agencies include NEMA, Lagos State Building Control Agency, Lagos Emergency Management Agency, State Fire Service, and the Police,” NEMA said on its X handle.
