12-member fake dollar syndicate busted in Gombe

Twelve members of a syndicate allegedly involved in the production of fake dollar notes have been arrested between Bajoga and the Duku axis of Gombe State.

The syndicated specialised in printing and disposing of counterfeit currencies, Gombe Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Mahid Abubakar said on Thursday.

Abubakar said 563 pieces of counterfeit 100 dollar bills and N265,000 were recovered from the suspects by the police operatives.

He also confirmed that operatives of the command acting on credible intelligence arrested the suspects between Bajoga and Dukku axis, respectively.

Abubakar said the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.

He urged residents of the state to be more vigilant and report suspicious persons and activities to security agencies.
