Nollywood actress Eberechukwu Bayray Nwizu has raised concerns about the current trend in the industry, highlighting the pressure actresses face to undergo Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) surgeries in order to secure roles.

Speaking on TVC’s Wake Up Nigeria program, Nwizu emphasized that some producers in the Nigerian film industry now consider BBL as a prerequisite for casting actresses.

While acknowledging advancements in capital and infrastructure within the industry, Nwizu lamented a reduction in appreciation for raw talent.

She noted a shift towards favouring social media influencers over traditional performers.

Reflecting on the past, she stated that previous obstacles such as fairness, height, and physique have been replaced by demands for BBL procedures.

Despite these challenges, Nwizu encouraged actresses to leverage streaming platforms to create and showcase their own content, advocating for self-empowerment and independence within the industry.

She also urged aspiring talents not to succumb to pressures dictating unrealistic standards for featuring in film projects.

“Ten years ago, it was you’re not fair enough, you’re not tall enough, you’re not full enough; now it’s you don’t have BBL, Nwizu said.

“The good news is that now you don’t have to conform to them. You can take advantage of any of the streaming platforms, start creating your own content, and grow. We don’t have any excuses anymore. There are always going to be those who say, you have to do this to be in my movie.”
