"We no go gree": Minna residents protest high cost of living, block road

Residents of Minna, the capital of Niger State, took to the streets on Monday morning to protest the high cost of living in the state.

The demonstrating crowd who consisted of men, women and young people blocked major roads in the metropolis as they sang protest songs.

They said they were particularly concerned about the increase in the prices of food items and the inadequate response of government to address the situation.

Police officers and other security agents were on ground but  did not interfere with the activities of the demonstrators.

The protest of the crowd drew the attention of the Niger State Deputy Governor, Yakubu Garba. He addressed the protesters saying that  that government was not unaware of the hardship of the people.

He assured  them that  the government was  working towards ameliorating the suffering of the people and the  consequences of the petrol subsidy removal.
