Nigerian celebrities have flooded the Instagram page of Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, with consolation messages following
yesterday’s loss of his team at the final of AFCON 2023 played in Abidjan, the capital of Ivory Coast.
The Super Eagles suffered a 2-1 loss to to Ivory Coast, despite heroic performance put up by Nwabali.
Expressing his disappointment and
frustration on his Instagram page, Nwabali apologized to Nigerians, acknowledging his understanding of their feelings as a former and current fan.
Taking full responsibility, he thanked Nigerians for their support and revealed his love for them.
He said, “A disappointing and frustrating end . I deeply apologise to Nigerians. I was once a fan, still a fan and I understand how it feels giving you a disappointing night. We take full responsibility. Thanks for the whole support till the end. I love you all “
Celebrities flooded his comments section to offer words of comfort. Alex Unusual, Uchenna Nnanna, Angela Okorie, Iyabo Ojo, Dorcas Fapson, Regina Chukwu, Kaffy, Mercy Aigbe, and others extended their support.
Alex Unusual reassured him, stating, “Please you didn’t do anything wrong. You owe no one an apology. You disappointed no one. Thank you so much for representing Nigeria”.
Ruby Ojiakor empathized, noting, “It was just you against the lovebirds our players didn’t play anything that wasn’t serious at all. You over-tried my man”
Cute Abiola encouraged him to focus on World Cup qualification, emphasizing determination for future success.
“You are great! Let’s focus on World Cup qualification now. We go hard. Thanks, champ”.
Yemi Elesho jokingly blamed the referee for the outcome, showing solidarity with Nwabali.
