CP Disu and widows of late police officers in Rivers State

Thpugh they may have lost their husbands, over 200 widows of police Officers who died on duty in Rivers still experienced love on Valentine’s day as the State Commissioner of police CP Olatunji Disu doled out food items, rice and undisclosed amount of money to each of them.

Speaking during special event organize by the command leadership to honour and celebrate the wives of the late Police Officers wives (LAPOWA) Disu also expressed readiness of the State Police Command to always honour the widows all time.

According to him, the gesture is consideration of the roles their late husbands played in the fight for a better Rivers State while alive.

He added that the command leadership to the command leadership decided to honour and celebrate the wives of the Late Police Officers wives (LAPOWA) as part of Valentine Day Celebration because they are also representing interest of the police in taking care of the children left behind by their late husband.

“Today we are here to celebrate the departed ones and to express our love and gratitude to you all. Look at here – over 200 and where are your husbands? They died in fighting for the peace and unity of the State. They died in the line of duty.”

“I and my management team, we have instructed our DPO’s to always support and give you the needed protections where ever you are for the sake of encouraging them in ensuring that those that late officers left behind feel loved”,he stated.

Disu averred that the event was an initiative of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun who directed that late Police Officers’ Wives should be carried along and that informed the celebrations.

Responding, the leader of Late Police Officers Wives (LAPOWA) Josephine Alukabu in an emotion laden voice noted that the event was first of its kind where widows are celebrated and remember for Good.

As one of the beneficiaries, she expressed gratitude to the State Commissioner of police and added the the gesture has impacted greatly on them and prayed God to keep the Commssioner and his men for greater achievement.
