Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Thursday announced free delivery in all government hospitals across the State.
He spoke in an interview with media personalities on TVC on Thursday.
The governor said the move was part of measures to reduce hardship in the state.
Sanwo-Olu also said the free delivery included caesarian section, while he further announced rebate in certain drugs at all government hospitals.
The governor added that government would open Sunday markets in at least 42 identified markets across Lagos State.
“You will be able to buy food items at a discounted price. You will only need to buy items worth up to N25,000,” he said.
Sanwo-Olu said the enforcements in some markets was for the general good of the people, which might not be popular “but the city must be rescued and cannot be left to rot.”
The governor gave an example of the Mandilas fire which was was put out but some trading activities blocked the other entrance which made it difficult for the other fire trucks to get in.
On building demolition, the governor stated that “We only remove the structures of those that contravened the State’s building and development laws.
“We don’t consider the ethnic or religious background of those defaulting our laws. We cannot compromise the laws; we need to rescue the city.
“The Lagos State laws protecting the rights of tenants and landlords are still in force. Lagosians need to come out and file complaints against erring landlords collecting more than one year rent. LASRERA will attend to their complaints.” he said.
