Lagos, Ogun Police begin joint patrol of Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

The  police commands of Lagos and Ogun States have started a joint patrol on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway to  enhance security in the area.

This was made known by the  Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, via a post on his X handle.

Hundeyin wrote: “As part of efforts to enhance security on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Police Command in Lagos State and its Ogun State counterpart have commenced joint patrols of Kara Bridge to Sagamu Interchange.

“The patrol teams from the Lagos command will comprise mainly the Rapid Response Squad.

“Motorists are, therefore, enjoined not to panic at the sight of increased police patrols, particularly the RRS. This is a proactive measure to prevent crime and criminality on this stretch of the road”.

There have been reports of abductions of travellers on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway  which is the busiest road in Nigeria . Recently, gunmen kidnapped the chairman of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Philip Aivoji, and some other party chieftains at the Ogere area of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.
