Hunters have neutralised a suspected bandit and recovered 74 stolen cows he was herding to Niger Republic at JarKuka, Bachaka ward of Arewa Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
Kebbi state Commander of the Nigerian Hunters and Forest Security Service, Musa Hussaini- Rambo revealed this to journalists on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi, the State capital.
Hussaini-Rambo said the stolen cows have been handed over to relevant authorities for onward delivery to their owners.
Hussaini-Rambo also said the hunters have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of armoured cables.
He said that the one of the suspects specialises in vandalism and theft of armoured cables while the other buys the stolen items at N5000 per kilogramme.
The commander said that the two were arrested in Gwadangwaji area of Birnin Kebbi.
“We are going to hand them over to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps for further investigation and prosecution,” he said.
The commander reiterated the determination of the hunters to complement security agencies in the fight against crimes most especially in forests across the state. (NAN) (www.nannews.ng)
