Man docked for allegedly defrauding pastor

One Seyi Oyedele, 21, was on Thursday docked in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan for allegedly defrauding a pastor to the tune of N74, 000.
Oyedele, whose residential address was not provided, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and threatening of life.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Gbemi Adedeji, told the court that the defendant allegedly committed the offences between September and October 2023, at Moniya area, Ibadan.
Adedeji said the defendant falsely represented himself as a corps member and fraudulently defrauded one pastor Adebanjo Ajayi of his N74, 000, for clearance and upkeep.
She added that the defendant threatened the pastor’s life and his ministry.
She said that the defendant also threatened to post the pastor’s picture on social if he refused to assist him financially.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 484 and 86 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adebola Adeola, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000 and one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until April 3 for hearing.
