A sexual predator, David Berbers has been jailed in London for 11 years for raping two teenage girls.

Berber  raped two 15-year old girls, one in London and one in Hove. Apart from the 11 years prison sentence, he has also been sentenced for a further three years on license after Met officers worked with Sussex Police to convict a dangerous sexual predator.

Berbers was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court on Friday, 16 February after standing trial at the same court from 27 November 2023 to 4 December 2023.

He was found guilty of three counts of rape relating to the two girls.

According to the police, a girl, then aged 16, contacted Met officers in May 2019 to allege that Berbers of Byatt Walk, Richmond-upon-Thames had raped and sexually assaulted her on several occasions between December 2017 and March 2018.

Detectives scanned police records and uncovered another offence where Berbers was suspected to have attacked a 15-year-old girl in Hove.

Following liaison with colleagues in Sussex Police, a case was put together compiling all the evidence against Berbers.

Berbers was arrested and subsequently charged with both rapes.

According to the Met Police, officers believed there might be more victims of Berbers and urged anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Constable Hannah Saunders of Public Protection Unit which covers south west London led the investigation.

Saunders said these young women had both been through a terrible ordeal, commending them for their courage and resilience.

“It is because of their testimony that this evil man is now behind bars and I hope this will bring them some closure.

“Unfortunately we cannot be sure there are not more victims who are yet to come forward. I would encourage anyone with information to get in touch so we can give you the support you need and investigate any further crimes.

“We take all allegations of this nature very seriously and you will be listened to and supported.

“If you would like to report any offences, call 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you would prefer to remain anonymous,” Saunders said.
