After dazzling with her debut album, emerging Nigerian Afrofusion artiste, Kold AF is teaming up with the talented neo-soul act and Grammy nominee songwriter Chiamaka Gift Egwundu popularly known as Aema for an inspiring EP titled ‘No Pity’.
The 2-pack EP called ‘No PITY’ was released on March 8, to mark the 2024 International Women’s Day.
The first track ‘Everyday (I DEY PRAY)’ has both girls speaking into the future about the great things they seek to accomplish but it also touches on how their grand visions can be sometimes blurred by the struggles faced by young women all over the world.
The second track ‘No Pity,’ is a no-nonsense anthem about survivors who fight back against sexual violence.
Both songs capture the socioeconomic injustice that continues to confront women in society. The tracks pack daring productions that combine dancehall, R&B, and soul elements as Kold AF and Aema flaunt their talents while pushing the sonic boundaries of Nigerian mainstream music.
Kold AF’s journey into the limelight was meticulously crafted, marked by a transformative artist’s development phase which displayed confidence and self-assuredness in her sound.
She combines her individual creativity with a dynamic infusion of musical genres, held up by an adeptness in songwriting.
So far she’s released two compelling projects: her two-song EP “Kold Szn” in 2022 and her 2023 EP in collaboration with French producer BGRZ, “Kollided.”
Aema on the other hand is a talented singer, songwriter, composer and vocalist who isconslidating on her recently released single titled, ‘Alt Soul‘.
Released via Afro-Avatar, the 2 – track opus features singles ‘DLT’, and ‘FREE’ with AratheJay, and showcases the Lagos-based artist’s multilayered talent and unrivaled versatility. Seamlessly threading together forward-thinking sounds and genres including Afrobeats, and Alté, ‘ALT SOUL’ is a truly diverse body of work that pushes the boundaries of Aema sound to become his most ambitious undertaking to date.
“ALT SOUL ” is a piece of art that reflects the mind of a modern day nerdy art creator who battles an internal war with their identity, having succeeded in breaking out of self imprisonment and societal norms, this piece explains the beginning of the journey to total freedom.
