The Speaker of the House of the Representatives, Dr. Abbas Tajudeen has condemned the mass abduction  of pupils  in Sokoto.

Bandits in the early hours of Saturday stormed a Quranic school  in Gada Local Government Area of Sokoto State, and kidnapped at least 15 pupils.

This happened a few days after terrorists kidnapped 287 pupils of primary and secondary schools in Kuriga in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A similar development had happened in Borno, northeast of Nigeria within the same week.

But in a statement shared on his x handle on Sunday, Tajudeen said, ” I condemn yet another mass abduction of pupils in Sokoto State by suspected bandits.

“This abduction is one too many, after the ones in Borno and Kaduna States all in the space of one week.

“I charge the military and other security agencies to go after the abductors and rescue the victims. No Nigerian should be in captivity.

“We must collectively rise to the occasion and stem the tide of abductions, especially of women and children, at a time when the government is making efforts to address the high rate of out-of-school children. The schools must be safe for our children.

“Our security agencies need to act fast”.
