Liverpool forced defending champions, Manchester City to a 1-1 draw at Anfield on Sunday, as Arsenal remain on top of the premier league.

City opened the scoring midway into the first half. Kevin De Bruyne delivered a teasing cross from the resulting corner and the ball fell into the space where John Stones was lurking. His precise shot from close range went straight inside the right post.

In the 32nd minute, Dominik Szoboszlai climbed all over the defender near the penalty spot to win the ball from a cross by Harvey Elliott, but planted his header narrowly wide of the right post.

Luis Diaz, in the 42nd minute tricked his way to the edge of the box where he shot at goal. The keeper scrambled to cover the effort, but it went just wide of the left post.

Liverpool equalised in the 50th minute from the penalty spot. Alexis Mac Allister won the battle of wills and sent an unstoppable penalty past Ederson into left side of the goal.

In the 71st minute, Darwin Nunez cracked a first-time shot, but the goalkeeper pulled off an amazing save.

Three minutes later, Phil Foden placed a close-range header from a rebound onto the crossbar.

In the 89th minute, Jeremy Doku threw the chance away as he attempted to produce a shot from inside the box. His attempt simply rattled the right post.
