Motorists in Lagos have commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for retraining 500 LASTMA Personnel towards ensuring efficient service delivery.
They also commended the Commissioner of Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi; the Special adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Transportation, Mr Sola Giwa, and the General Manager in charge of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare Oki and the Director of LASTMA Personnel Training, Mr Akinpelu Ayuba for ensuring professionalism in LASTMA operations.
Some of the motorists who spoke with P.M.NEWS at Lekki, CMS, Ikorodu, Obalende and Abule–Egba areas of Lagos stated that they decided to speak out to let Governor Sanwo-Olu know that the gains of the exercise have stated manifesting in the modus operandi of the LASTMA Personnel at their beats in all parts of Lagos State.
They appealed to the governor to complete the retraining workshop for all the LASTMA Personnel to eliminate the negative mindsets of the public about their operations.
The governor was also commended for appointing Mr Olalekan Bakare Oki whom they described as a man of integrity and a disciplinarian to head the agency.
Speaking with P.M.NEWS at toll gate bus stop, Lagos, Mr John Omenai, a driver said, he was surprised to see the changed attitude of LASTMA Personnel a few days after the retraining workshop as they were seen directing traffic with maturity instead of the indiscriminate arrest of vehicles the way they used to do.
It will be recalled that the Lagos State government in collaboration with certified forensic intelligence and crime analysts held a retraining workshop for 500 LASTMA Personnel on traffic incident management at the police training school, Ikeja, Lagos in February.
While declaring the workshop opened, the Commissioner of Transportation, Mr Oluwaseun Osiyemi said that the government was investing huge resources in the training and retraining of LASTMA Personnel to guarantee a refined and robust traffic management system.
Other drivers who commended the LASTMA Personnel training workshop included Mr Eliaja Obioma, Kingsley Obiamiju and Oke Okoro.
