The Police Service Commission (PSC) has authorised the suspension of ASP Doubara Edonyabo and ASP Talent Mungo, for extortion, while Inspector Michael Odey has been dismissed.
This is contained in a statement issued by the spokesperson, Rivers Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko.
She said additionally, the salaries of the implicated officers had been stopped.
“The two officers will face the Force Disciplinary Committee (FDC), which is responsible for addressing disciplinary issues involving senior office,” she added.
Iringe-Koko said Inspector Michael Odey, who was among the corrupt police officers was found guilty and subsequently dismissed from duty, effective from February 7, 2024, following thorough orderly room proceedings and a comprehensive review conducted by the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 16.
She explained that Edonyabo and Mungo, by their respective ranks required approval from the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission.
Iringe-Koko pointed out that this decisive course of action served as a strong deterrent to any police officer who might contemplate engaging in misconduct and unequivocally reaffirmed police unwavering commitment to upholding the fundamental principles of credible policing in Rivers State.
According to her, under the leadership of CP Olatunji Disu, the Rivers State Police Command remained steadfast in its dedication to maintaining discipline among its officers.
