St. Lawrence Greater Height School, Ajasa on Thursday 7 March 2024 held a colourful 20th Inter-house Sports Competition at the Alade Stadium, Ajasa-Command, Lagos.
The School’s biennial event was given an uplift with the various competing houses robed in attractive sports attires of different colours.
Teams energetically competed in various sports activities such as races, Filling-The-Bottle, Tyre rolling, Head balancing, footballing and javelin among others to the delight of spectators.
The event, which witnessed a large attendance of parents, invited schools and dignitaries from various spheres including the State’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, was kick-started with a march past by the four competing houses and the St. Lawrence Staff Team.
The march past was followed by a symbolic announcement by the School’s proprietor, Mrs Kehinde Lucia Adeosun signifying the commencement of the remarkable event.
This was immediately followed by a novelty football march between the St. Lawrence parents’ team and a team representing the junior section of the School.
The match ended in a controversial and amusing 1-0 victory for the parents, an aspect that left spectators rolling with laughter in their chairs.
Another comic and very exciting moment was when children in the crèche section of the school were running a slipper race. This particular aspect also made the audience laugh out of their hearts.
The high point of the event was the presentation of trophies and prizes to winners in the various categories of sports that took place.
In the end, the event left a lasting impression that made both the school, parents and residents of the area crave for next edition.
