Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has directed all the state’s Commissioners to provide palliatives to the people at the grassroots, to cushion the current hardship, especially with the Ramadan fast.

Mohammed said this when he addressed the commissioners shortly before the Executive Council meeting in Bauchi on Wednesday.

“All of you are leaders in your local government areas, you have a role to ensure that palliative is shared equitably and justifiably.

“As commissioners, you know you are an extension of the office of the governor as per the arrangement in the Constitution.

“We must do very well as everybody is looking up to us. It is not for us to be complaining because it is just like inflicting injury into one’s sourness,” he said.

Mohammed also expressed sadness over the three-month suspension of Sen. Abdul Ningi (PDP-Bauchi) from the National Assembly.

“Yesterday, I felt very sad as the Senate suspended Sen. Abdul Ningi, one of our best from Bauchi for telling the truth, for standing up to be the beacon of truth.

“I don’t know what we will do but we will discuss privately just to see what we can do to support him because I support him for whatever he is doing.

“That is the face of the opposition especially if what he is saying is the truth. We will investigate to find out,” he said.

Mohammed said that Ningi had shown courage by his revelation, calling on all Nigerians to support his course.
