President Bola appoints ally of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Dr Dakorinama George as D-G Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA)

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday approved the appointment of a former commissioner in Rivers and an ally of FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, Dr Dakorinama George also known as George Kelly as the Director-General, of the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA)

The appointment of George who was commissioner of works in Rivers when Wike was governor was announced in a statement by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, on Thursday in Abuja.

George was in charge of the multiple construction projects executed by Wike for the eight years he was governor of Rivers State.

He was also appointed as in the same position by incumbent Rivers governor, Siminalayi Fubara.

He was among the commissioners who resigned their appointment from Fubara’s cabinet after the Governor fell out with his predecessor, Wike.

However, he returned to Fubara’s cabinet as part of the deal for the settlement of the crises between Wike and the governor. But he been quiet until his recent appointment.

While announcing the appointment, Ngelale noted that George, the new Director- General of the BCDA, holds a PhD in Construction Management; an MSc in Quantity Surveying and Construction Engineering, and a B.Tech in Quantity Surveying.

”He is a fellow of the Certified Institute of Practising Professionals, USA; a fellow of the Association of Strategy Professionals, USA, and a member of other distinguished associations.

”George is a former commissioner for works in Rivers State.”

Ngelale said that the President anticipated that the new appointees would bring their requisite experiences and know-how to this role to revamp the two organisations and advance the realisation of its founding purpose and vision.
