The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun Command, has advised motorists to reduce speed and change all expired tyres, to stem crashes during the rainy season.

Mr Anthony Uga, FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, said this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Ota, Ogun.

Uga said that the advice had become necessary for motorists as the rainy season posed dangers that could lead to loss of lives during driving if care was not taken.

According to him, the FRSC has started the general campaign against speeding in the state to prevent avoidable crashes during the season.

The sector commander noted that everybody understood that times were hard but that “it’s only the living that use vehicles.

“All motorists should avoid speeding as a major approach towards driving during the rainy season because speeding kills.

“In addition, they should change any bad or expired tyres as this might fail them while on the road during the rainy season.”
