Mo Abudu, Idris Elba collaborate on short film 'Dust to Dreams'

Nigerian filmmaker and founder of EbonyLife Films, Mo Abudu has announced that Hollywood star, Idris Elba, will be directing her new short film, titled Dust To Dreams.

The film is a collaboration between Abudu’s EbonyLife Films and African Export Import Bank (Afreximbank), through its Creative Africa Nexus (Canex), according to a report by Deadline published on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

Dust to Dreams is a Lagos-based film which follows the relationship between a mother and her teenage daughter as she meets her father for the first time.

Mo Abudu took to her social media page on Tuesday to share more details on the film which will be starring: British-Nigerian music star, Seal; Nollywood stars, Nse Ikpe-Etim, Eku Edewor, Atlanta Bridget Johnson, and a former Nigerian Idol contestant, Constance Olatunde.

Her post which is based on a report published by the entertainment platform Deadline, also shows that the film is a collaboration between EbonyLife Films and the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank), through its Creative Africa Nexus (Canex).

“I’m beyond thrilled to announce a groundbreaking collaboration close to my heart!” she wrote.

Dust To Dreams is the first notable production to come out of a co-production deal Abudu and Elba signed through their respective production companies, EbonyLife Media and Green Door Pictures, in 2023.

Abudu, who created the film, will serve as both executive producer and producer, with Heidi Uys as supervising producer. Other co-producers on the project are Temidayo Makanjuola, Inem King, and Vanessa Demme.
