Pandemonium as fire guts section of Lagos Transportation Ministry

There was pandemonium on Thursday evening as fire gutted a section of the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation in Alausa, Ikeja area of the State.

The incident occurred around 7.00pm. Some staff were still in the ministry when the fire suddenly occurred after the restoration of power by Ikeja Electric.

PM NEWS reports that officials of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service were seen rushing to the scene with a tanker to battle the fire.

Staff of the Ministry and those of the Ministry of Establishments, Training and Pension who were in the same building rushed out to avoid being burnt in the inferno.

It was gathered that the fire emanated as a result of a surge in power. Thick smoke bellowed the atmosphere, with balls of fire seen.

The screaming and blaring of sirens rent the air as the fire truck races to the scene of the incident.

It was learnt that the fire emanated from one of the rooms housing the Motor Vehicles Administration Agency (MVAA) on the third floor.

The fire services were able to put out the fire after about 30 minutes. The fire was contained to the room where it began.
