Eight Sokoto LGAs not connected to national grid, Governor Aliyu laments

Aliyu said: “We need your support in reconnecting eight local government areas that have been without light for years as well as the general improvement of electricity supply in the state".

Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has lamented that eight of the local government areas in the state are not connected to the national grid.

Aliyu said this when the  Minister of Power, Adelabu Adebayo, visited him at the government house in Sokoto on Thursday.  The Sokoto helmsman said the affected LGAs had been without electricity for years.

Aliyu said: “We need your support in reconnecting eight local government areas that have been without light for years as well as the general improvement of electricity supply in the state”.

He also requested the federal government to reconsider generating electricity from the Goronyo Dam.
