The Executive Director of Southern British High School (SBHS), Calabar, Cross River State, Dr (Mrs) Oluwaseun Fakorede says the school’s victory at the 2024 National Mathematics Competition was made possible by a carefully crafted curriculum to meet national and global standards in Education.

Dr (Mrs) Fakorede made the comment while welcoming the contestants after their victory at the National Mathematics competition, organized by Catalyst Consulting Limited, Lagos for select primary, junior and senior secondary schools across the country.

The elated educator applauded her students for the victory and for making the school proud.

She was upbeat that the school would garner more trophies from similar competitions before the end of the year 2024.

At the competition, the School was represented by Miss Ambo Amanda Antigha, Junior Secondary School, Class Two (JSS 2) who scored all the 50 points at stake to emerge the overall winner of the competition.

She defeated six others for the highly contested prize.

Saint Gregory College, Lagos; Barakat College, Oyo, Oyo State and Loyola Jesuit Memorial College in Rivers State came second, third and fourth respectively

In 2023, SBHS won the overall best prize in an essay competition organized by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), which drew over one thousand, two hundred (1200) schools in the country to win the N300,000 overall cash prize.

The students of SBHS located at Number 15 Rotimi Amaechi Avenue, off Tinapa Road, Calabar were excited when the mathematics trophy was handed over to them.

“We are the best mathematics school in the country,” they happily chanted.
