Lady who allegedly stabbed housewife lands in prison

The police at the Bar Beach Division, Victoria Island, Lagos of the Lagos State Police Command, have arrested a lady, Linda Obigwe, 37, and charged her before a Lagos Magistrate’s court for allegedly stabbing a housewife, Linda Nabila Sodeinde on her forehead, face and nose with a broken glass.

The incident allegedly took place at 245 Club House, located along Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos during an altercation.

The defendant was charged before the Tinubu Magistrates’ Court, Lagos Island on a two-count charge bordering on Assault occasioning bodily harm.

Police prosecuting counsel, Inspector Kofi Aodohemba told the court in the charge marked TC/18/2024 that the defendant committed the offence on 2 March 2024 at 245 Club House located along Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Aodohemba informed the court that the incident occurred when the complainant and her husband went to the clubhouse to unwind and the defendant started discussing with the complainant.

Not comfortable with their discussion, the complainant challenged the defendant to stop discussing with her husband, but instead, the defendant allegedly broke the glass she was drinking alcohol with and used it to stab the complainant on her forehead, face and nose with blood gushing out leading to her arrest.

He said the offences, the defendant committed were punishable under Section 173 and 246 (a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Counts one and two read that you Linda Obigwe on 2 March 2024 at 245 Club House located along Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, Lagos did assault one Linda Nabila Sodeinde by using a broken glass to stab her on her forehead, face and nose which caused her injuries.

That you Linda Obigwe on the same date, time and place did unlawfully harm one Linda Nabila Sodeinde by cutting her face and nose with broken glass.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges and Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Omoyele granted her N100,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Omoyele adjourned the case and ordered the defendant to be detained at the Kirikiri Correctional Facility till she perfected the bail condition.
