A Nigerian engineer, Leye Falade has been appointed the new Managing Director of Brunei LNG by the oil giant Shell, barely five months after he resumed as Chief Executive of Shell Namibia.
According to information provided by Africa oil+gas report, Falade will, in the new role, report to Peter Costello, Executive Vice President of Conventional Oil & Gas.
Brunei LNG, the report informed, is 50% owned by the Government of Brunei, 25% owned by Shell and 25% owned by Mitsubishi.
The company is said to operate a total plant capacity of 7.2 million tonnes per annum (7.2MMTPA) of LNG on a 130-hectare complex situated at Lumut in the Belait District in Brunei.
Falade is noted to have, within the very short time of being the Chair of Shell Namibia, recorded great feats that have positively impacted the country.
His leadership style is famously described as being charismatic and empathetic.
Before his appointment as Chairman of Shell Namibia in October 2023, Falade was the General Manager, Production of Nigeria LNG Ltd.
He graduated from the University of Ibadan (UI) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering and bagged an MBA from Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK. He has spent 27 years with the Shell Group.
