Deputy Commissioner of Police commits suicide in Ogbomoso

A Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) with the Force Criminal and Investigation Department, Alagbon, Lagos State, Gbolahan Oyedemi, has reportedly committed suicide.

He was reported to have hung himself in his house in Ogbomoso, Oyo State on Monday.

The police are yet to come up with the reason why he hung himself despite being a high ranking officer.

The Punch quoted a source close to the deceased’s family as saying that Odeyemi, who normally visited his hometown during Easter with his security aides this time around told them to go to their various homes to celebrate the Easter with their families.

According to the source, “Yes, he committed suicide. His body was found hanging in his house yesterday (Monday). He stays alone, and he normally comes home for Easter celebrations.”

The Police Public Relations Officer of FCID, Alagbon, DSP Eguaoje Funmilayo, confirmed Oyedemi’s death, but said details are still sketchy.

Before his death, Olugbemi served as Divisional Police Officer in Ilupeju, Area Commander in Ajah, and was Personal Assistant to two former Commissioners of Police in Lagos State.
