Phil Foden scored a hat-trick on Wednesday as Manchester City thrashed Aston Villa 4-0 to keep tabs on Arsenal and Liverpool.

City, playing at the Etihad Stadium opened the scoring 11 minutes into the game. Jeremy Doku slipped the ball through to Rodri and he darted into the box to unleash a magnificent shot into the top of the net.

Villa equalised 20 minutes into the game. Jhon Duran received the ball inside the box, reacted quickly and without any problems fired the ball into the back of the net.

City went into the lead again one minute into first half added time. Foden showcased his brilliant free kick ability, particularly from a distance like this. He hit the ball perfectly and it ended up inside the left post.

City made it 3-1 in the 62nd minute. Foden was the scorer again. He latched on to a precise pass inside the penalty box and produced a sweet strike that beat the goalkeeper as it went into the bottom right corner, bouncing off the post.

Folden got his hat-trick seven minutes later. A rebounded ball arrived at the feet of Foden just outside the box. He fired a brilliant shot into the top right corner. His attempt was beyond the reach of Robin Olsen to make it 4-1 for City.
