Rivers: Ex-militant leader Jackrich arrested, 2 aides feared killed

Ex-militant leader and candidate of the National Rescue Movement, NRM, in Rivers in the 2023 elections, Sobomabo Jackrich, aka Egberipapa was whisked away security operatives suspected to be soldiers at his Usokun residence in Degema Local Government Area of the state on Monday.

According to George Zua, an aide to Sobomabo Jackrich, who confirmed the development, the operation which was carried out in a commando style claims the lives of two aides of the NRM candidate.

He claimed the bodies of the security operatives were taken away.

Zua said the operation which began at about 3am on Monday lasted for several hours.

The names of those allegedly killed in the attack were given as Diamond Tamunoiminabo and Sincere Jackrich.

Earlier reports had indicated that Jackrich may have been abducted by gunmen in military uniform.

However, the Spokesperson for the Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed that the former Governorship candidate of NRM was not abducted but arrested.

At the time of filing this report the reasons for the arrest of the popular Egberipapa arrest have not been given by the military authorities.
