Real Madrid fought back to hold defending champions, Manchester City to a 3-3 draw at the Bernabeu Stadium on Tuesday in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.
City had opened the scoring two minutes into the game. Bernardo Silva showed what an intelligent of a player he was after hitting a low shot from a free kick that went under the defensive wall and into the bottom left corner.
Five minutes later, Erling Haaland ran onto the ball inside the box and smashed it towards the left side of the goal. It was a great effort but an even better save from Andriy Lunin, who tipped the ball around the post.
Madrid equalised from an own goal eight minutes into the game. Ruben Dias scored an unlucky own goal after he deflected a shot which went into his own net.
Two minutes later, Madrid were in front again. Rodrygo displayed superb quick feet and dribbling as he jinks his way through multiple challenges and took a shot from inside the box, which was deflected and went past stranded Stefan Ortega.
City equalised in the 66th minute. Phil Foden perfectly collected a pass on the edge of the penalty area from John Stones, then produced a nice strike into the top left corner.
City were in front again in the 71st minute. Josko Gvardiol perfectly collected a pass on the edge of the penalty area from Jack Grealish, then produced a nice strike into the right side of the goal to make the score 2-3.
Madrid equalised in the 79th minute of the game. Vinicius Junior spotted his teammate in a good position on the edge of the box and provided him with a nice pass. Federico Valverde rifled a first-time shot into the bottom left corner to make the score 3-3.
