New Edo State Deputy Governor Omobayo Godwins

New Edo Deputy Governor Omobayo Godwins has assured his master, Gov. Godwin Obaseki that he would always do as the governor wishes.

The 37-year-old Omobayo Godwins was sworn in on Monday to replace the impeached Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu who had been having a running battle with the governor over his (Shaibu) ambition to succeed Obaseki.

Philip Shaibu was impeached for allegedly leaking the state government’s secrets.

Omobayo Godwins pledged to be an obedient deputy to Governor Obaseki on Monday in an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today Programme.

He said he was okay to be a spare tyre to his boss, adding that becoming a deputy governor at the young age of 37 was a grace.

According to him, he’s not prepared to compete with his master.

“Whatever he says I should do is what I will do. He knows my strength,” Omobayo said.

Omobayo Godwins who hails from Akoko Edo Local Government Area was born on 19 July 1986.

He holds a B.Eng Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and an M.Sc in Public Administration from the University of Benin (UNIBEN).

He is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) and the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN).
